‘Around the Word’ Term 2 Celebration
To finalise our learning in Term 2 about different countries from around the world, Blue Block held an International Picnic. Students and staff dressed up in traditional clothing from France, Japan, Australia or India. After a successful ‘strut down the catwalk’, the feast began with foods from all 4 countries. Students enjoyed French ham and cheese croissants, Japanese sushi, traditional Aussie lamingtons and meat pies and a range of authentic food from India such as samosas and rice.
A special thank you to our special visitors and for all the parents who helped with the amazing costumes. Blue Block looked fantastic!!
Room 6 students have said sayonara to Japan and bonjour to France! One of first learning experiences was about the Eiffel Tower. Our Year 5\6 buddies helped us make models of the famous landmark, using mini marshmallows and toothpicks.
Children’s Day is held every May in Japan and carp kites or koinobori are flown to symbolise strength and courage. Room 6 students made their own koinobori using card, crayon, paint and tissue paper.
Did you know that kimonos are traditional Japanese clothing? We have been learning all about Japan and we loved dressing up in this version of a kimono. Don’t we look fabulous?
Room 6 students loved trying out the new playground this week. Thanks to everyone who helped fundraise to make this possible!
Room 6 students enjoyed reading The Race for the Chinese Zodiac by Grabrielle Wong. After working out which year they were born in, each student made a mask of their animal. Don’t they look great ?!
